UPS drivers honored for safety measures

A UPS driver was recently honored by the company celebrating excellence in truck driving safety for 25 years of accident-free driving, reported The Florida Times-Union.

Teamster Union General President Jim Hoffa recently called announced the the filing of counterarguments in a recent lawsuit filed against the U.S. Department of Transportation's pilot program to open the border to potentially dangerous and illegal Mexican trucks.

At the company's recent Annual Safe Driving Awards Banquet at the Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, California, supermarket chain Stater Bros. honored its drivers for displaying excellence in truck driving safety measures.

At the Truckload Carriers Association's Annual Awards Banquet, the TCA announced the grand prize winners of its National Fleet Safety Awards, which were Rocha Transportation of Ceres, California, and Bison Transport of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

According to Truck News, attendees of the Green Truck Summit hosted by the National Truck Equipment Association and Calstart shared their positive experiences while working with green trucks, which have led to improved fleet management.

Truckers will have another resource to learn about the best fleet management practices, as the Truckload Carriers Association will release a new publication called the Truckload Authority.

A recent partnership formed by Rolling Strong and the Kroger Company Family of Pharmacies will work to improve trucker health by providing truckers with onsite biometric readings for all of Rolling Strong's clients at Kroger stores.
