UPS drivers honored for safety measures

Created: Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 03:01 pm

A UPS driver was recently honored by the company celebrating excellence in truck driving safety for 25 years of accident-free driving, reported The Florida Times-Union.

The newspaper said Charles Terry earned admittance into the UPS Circle of Honor, after only experiencing one accident in 38 years with the company, making roughly 150 deliveries per day.

"I’ve been wanting this patch for a long time," Terry told the paper. "I’d like to see every one of us wearing this patch. “It’s extremely important to stay safe out there. You’ve got children out there on bicycles. I’ve had kids fall in front of my truck."

Gary Ross, Terry's immediate supervisor, told the paper Terry's attention to detail also makes him a great teacher for young drivers just starting out with the company.

A number of UPS drivers were also honored by Atlanta truck accident attorney Bruce Millar for their truck driving safety. The drivers were recently added to the Atlanta section of the company's Circle of Honor.
