At the company's recent Annual Safe Driving Awards Banquet at the Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, California, supermarket chain Stater Bros. honored its drivers for displaying excellence in truck driving safety measures.

"Our Annual Safe Driving Awards Banquet is the company's way of showing our professional truck drivers how important and valuable their safe driving records are, not only to the success of Stater Bros. markets but for the safety of the communities we are privileged to serve,"  said Jack Brown, chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets.

At the banquet, two Stater Bros. drivers were rewarded for reaching more than 2 million accident-free miles by being given "Million Mile" jackets and hats from the company, and 11 other drivers also received the garb after achieving 1 million accident-free miles.

According to Contracting Business, good trucking driving may be an indicator  of the strength of a business, because safe drivers can help fleets save money while also increasing productivity.

The website said trucking companies can also see savings from employing safe drivers thanks to fewer traffic tickets, vehicle collisions, personal injuries and worker compensation claims.
