MMTA rewards Baltimore Gas and Electric Company truck drivers
The Maryland Motor Truck Association recently rewarded two employees from Baltimore Gas and Electric Company for excellence in truck driving safety in the workplace.
Richard G. Anderson, senior utility instructor for BGE, was honored with MMTA's 2011 Lynwood M. Robinson Safety Supervisor of the Year award, and had the award renamed after him, while Steve Brubach, supply chain material handler-driver, was presented with the MMTA Driver of the Month award due to his spotless driver record.
"During restoration efforts following a storm or in routine day-to-day activities, safety is and always will be BGE's No. 1 priority," said Christie D. McMullen, vice president of business transformation and chief safety officer for BGE. "I am proud to see both Richard and Steve's commitment to safe driving honored by the Maryland Motor Truck Association."
The MMTA has also recently been active against the proposed gas tax created by Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, which is expected to cost trucking companies and families hundred of dollars each year, reported the Washington Examiner. The tax would add a cost of 18 cents per gallon to the cost of gas in the upcoming years.
