Truckers who travel across the country may not realize that safety rules vary from state to state.

Last week, the Department of Transportation (DOT) rolled out a series of new proposals that are intended to ensure the safety of truck drivers, who typically work long hours.

In the wake of the launch of CSA 2010, many safety directors are paying particular attention to the health of their drivers.

In an effort to ensure that truck drivers are not pushing their physical limits, the Obama administration has proposed a series of new regulations that would change work restrictions for these professionals.

The implementation of CSA 2010 did not happen without some opposition from members of the carrier industry.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), individuals who are interested in taking driver safety training classes should check with prospective employers before they enroll.

Although many small trucking organizations attempted to stall the launch of CSA 2010, the program has been launched on schedule, The Trucker reports.
