Many new proposals have hit the trucking industry after the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration introduced its Compliance, Safety, Accountability program.

Officials from the American Trucking Associations (ATA) recently announced that proposed changed in the regulations regarding drivers hours of service (HOS) may be more harmful to the industry and could have a significant negative effect on trucking safety, DC Velocity reports.

As the trucking industry is trying to tighten capacity, a new report found that carriers are trying to steer away from broker services.

In an effort to reduce the amount of fuel trucking companies need to purchase, businesses are launching electrified parking areas to help truckers have full use of their cab without the an idling engine.

Fuel prices continue to soar as trucking companies and lawmakers look for ways to implement changes to reduce the cost.

Some drivers still against EOBRs

Many owner-operators are against the electronic on-board recorders (EOBR) proposal from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

As rain continues to hit the Midwest, many towns are racing to protect cities from flooding. For instance, in Valley City, North Dakota a 24-hour trucking operation of nearly 100-vehicles has brought drivers into town in an effort to save the city from record breaking river levels, news station WDAY reported.

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) recently released its 2011 edition of its American Trucking Trends publication, which highlights the progression of the freight hauling industry.

Electronic on-board recorders (EOBR) are meant to take the paperwork out of drivers' hands and input hours of service (HOS) information into a computerized logbook.

The federal government has recently made changes to rules governing the trucking industry through its CSA 2010 program.
