Working to improve truck driving safety in Florida, lawmakers in the state are considering a texting while driving ban, which 35 states and the District of Columbia have already imposed, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.

With the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasting a positive job market for truckers across the United States, those seeking jobs in the Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla counties in Florida would benefit from receiving the proper CDL training.

Electric trucks may play a large role in the future of the trucking industry, if companies are swayed by a recent report by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Coalition for Transportation Productivity has been researching the benefits of increased trucking weights for around three years, and believes it would allow companies to take a number of trucks off the road, reported the Omaha World Herald.

During a recent news conference, Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson announced he plans to deploy road crews on more than 20 of the state's roads and bridges, which have been in need of repairs for a long time.

Distracted driving has been an issue for truckers over the past years, and in an effort to improve truck driving safety, a commercial driving school with locations in the Northeast recently joined with the Commercial Vehicle Training Association to curb the problem, reported New Jersey On-Line.

West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, veteran truck drivers in the state and the National Transportation Safety Board recently announced their support of the bill banning truckers and all other motorists from texting while driving, reported the Register-Herald Reporter.

ATA adds Great Dane as an allied partner

The American Trucking Associations recently added Great Dane Trailers as an allied member, and both companies plan to use the partnership to promote growth in the trucking industry.

Focusing on truck driving safety, Volvo Trucks is working on ways to help truckers remain secure behind the wheel, while also helping companies save money by focusing on fuel efficiency, reported the Business Journal.

LinkAmerica recently announced its plans to relocate to Fort Worth's CentrePort Business Park in the upcoming months, which the company believes will open up new opportunities in the high traffic Fort Worth, Texas, area.
