Created: Thursday, January 5th, 2012 01:01 pm

At the upcoming 2012 Green Truck Summit on March 5-6, held in conjunction with The Work Truck Show 2012 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu will provide the keynote address.

Chu's address will discuss President Barack Obama's agenda to invest in clean energy, reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil and create millions of new jobs.

Attendees at the Green Truck Summit will also have the opportunity to learn about green technology being used in the trucking world, as the event will feature 29 information sessions covering subject matter such as reducing fuel consumption, improving fleet management, comparing clean technology options and funding clean vehicles.

Trucking companies attending the summit will learn about many practices that can help them save money while also reducing their carbon footprint.

While the Green Truck Summit may inform trucking companies about energy efficiency in the industry, trucking companies must also practice smarter tactics with their fuel use, reported National Geographic.

"Our customers are looking for every opportunity to save fuel," Peter Adams, program manager for Smart Transport at Shell Global, told the source.
