TCA and CarriersEdge announce Best Fleets to Drive For
The Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge recently announced the 2012 winners of the Best Fleets to Drive For survey, which was voted on by drivers and truck company owners. A number of fleets based in the United States and Canada won this recognition. At a conference in March, the Best Overall Fleet for Owner Operators and the Best Overall Fleet for Company Drivers will be announced.
The winners of the survey demonstrated excellence in trucking safety and trucker health. They also stood out for offering driver profit sharing as art of their compensation package and rewarding drivers for fuel efficiency, on-time deliveries and having the proper training.
"For 2012, we saw a heightened level of interest from the nominated fleets," said Mark Murrell, president of CarriersEdge. "It seems that everybody wants to be named a Best Fleet to Drive For. Some folks even called us before we began interviewing just to double-check that we had their current contact information."
As fleets vie for recognitions like the Best Fleets to Drive For award, they may increasingly be turning to car dealerships for vehicle servicing. A number of fleets across the country will be servicing their trucks at car dealerships, Kumar Saha, an industry analyst with Frost and Sullivan’s Automotive & Transportation practice, told FleetOwner magazine.
Dealerships will see more trucks at their facilities after investing more money in skilled technicians and professional development, which leads to higher quality workers, reported the magazine.
