Survey highlights top concerns of trucking officials

Created: Monday, October 24th, 2011 08:01 pm

Recently, the American Transportation Research Institute investigated the trucking industry to explore what problems need to be addressed in order to help the field run smoothly and efficiently. They gathered their findings through a series of surveys distributed to trucking executives throughout the country.

For the past three years, trucking officials have expressed their main concerns regarding the state of the nation's overall economy, as it does affect the supply demands significantly. Other issues included on the list were the driver shortages and making sure truckers were within the new regulations instilled by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), known as the Compliance, Safety and Accountability (CSA) program.

"As we navigate these increasingly challenging times, it is critical for our industry leaders to advocate for policies that make it easier for them to deliver life's essentials safely and efficiently," Bill Graves, president and chief executive officer of the American Trucking Associations (ATA), said in a statement.

Truck drivers should familiarize themselves with these types of concerns, especially if they are entering a trucking career for the first time after completing their CDL training coursework.
