Special hauling hours allowed for some businesses over holiday weekend

Truckers who are hauling fireworks for anticipated 4th of July events nationwide have a very import job to do. Usually, truck drivers are limited to a certain number of hours they can be on the road per day, but for the special weekend, several companies received special waivers to pardon this rule, reports Bloomberg.

Most businesses are privately-owned and rely on the holiday business to help carry them through the year. However, Disney is on the list as the only publically traded company. Some officials say that Disney's inclusion is unnecessary, but company advocates claim the application was only completed as a precautionary measure.

Duane DeBruyne, member of the motor carrier administration associated with Disney, says the exemption is necessary to keep up with the higher demand of freight needed.

"The period immediately before, and immediately after the 4th of July, is the one with the greatest demand," he told news source. "This exemption is extremely limited - both in practice and in duration."

According to The Denver Post, nine new companies were added on the listing this year, bringing the total to 62 fleet management owners who either applied or renewed their request.
