Seminar at MTA focuses on Hours of Service

At the Mid-America Trucking Show, a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration investigator John Seidl hosted a seminar that covered the news Hours of Service regulations, reported the Trucker.

According to the source, Seidl's presentation included a lot of research put together by the FMCSA, as well as measures that can reduce the risk of driver fatigue, decreasing the risk of fatigue-related crashes and decrease the risk of fatigue-related health effects.

Seidl told the source that he is encouraging trucking companies to make the switch the that Hours of Service regulations now, even though they will not become laws in July 1, 2013. However, drivers will need to adjust to the change and making now could increase trucking safety measures in the future.

With the trucking hours regulations focusing on reducing trucking accidents on our nation's highways, trucking companies will need to adjust to the extended rest time truckers will soon receive, as well as giving drivers a small 30 minute break after an eight hour day of driving.
