Rewards handed out at TWNA awards banquet

The Truck Writer of North America recently honored Rolf Lockwood, vice president of editorial at Newcom Business Media and founder of Today's Trucking, with a Lifetime Achievement Award due to the pride and professionalism he uses in his writing, reported Heavy Duty Trucking magazine.

"That means getting out among your readers so you can see the industry you cover through their eyes," Lockwood said at the awards banquet at the Mid-America Trucking Show. "You'll come to respect your readers your readers, and they in turn will develop respect for you. You'll gain credibility, the cornerstone of success for any of use here."

Lockwood has been noted for his conversational writing style and his deep knowledge of the daily operations of fleet owners, owner-operators, company drivers, technicians, managers and suppliers throughout North America, reported the magazine.

At the awards banquet, which often honors drivers for their excellence in truck driving safety, Mike Schiotis, a trucker from Spring Hill, Tennessee, was honored at the 2011 North America Highway Hero due to his bravery for rescuing a woman from an attacker with a gun, said the magazine.
