According to a recent survey conducted by PHH Arval, truck driving safety, reducing fuel consumption and lowering maintenance costs will be a few of the tops concerns for fleet managers in the upcoming years.

The survey found 86 percent of trucking companies that responded to the survey have a fleet safety/accident policy as part of their safety program, while 31 percent have driver safety kits and 25 percent have a fleet safety committee.

"A good driver safety training program can significantly reduce accidents," said Eliot Bensel, director of vehicle accident services and risk and safety for PHH Arval. "Despite best-in-class efforts, every fleet has incidents and accidents that do happen. Ensuring there is a defined-accident management process will help get vehicles and drivers back on the road quickly and safely."

While a majority of fleets are focusing on driver safety, a new program put together by GreenRoad called GreenRoad Fleet Elite will help identify some of the best drivers on the road.

Supplementing the launch of the new program, GreenRoad also launched its website, GreenRoad.com, which features a blog drivers and trucking executives can go to to discuss trucking safety measures and advocate for the use of safe driving practices.
