New technologies could improve fleet management strategies
For many managers of transportation companies, it is difficult to keep track of various trucks that are picking up and delivering goods across the country. Although these professionals employ various strategies to measure their employees' performance and efficiency, new technologies that could make their jobs easier have been created.
SkyBitz is a developer of some of these products, such as mobile terminals and cargo sensors. These tools were recently adopted by USA Truck, a carrier company, which will use the technology to keep an up-to-date record of its assets.
Fleet management officials will be able to track the status of their assets in real time, determine the location data of trucks and run reports on each trailer.
"With more precise and real-time metrics on trailers, we should be able to operate with a more efficient trailer-to-tractor ratio than we would otherwise," said Cliff Beckman, president and CEO of USA Truck.
Online truck driver training courses may enable safety directors and their fleets to stay abreast of emerging trends in their industries. Professionals who have learned how to use new technologies may be able to focus more keenly on their safety and efficiency.
