Individuals who are considering a career in the transportation industry may soon have new criteria to meet. According to eTrucker.com, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FCMSA) is expected to release new requirements for entry-level driver training by ethe end of the year.

The news sources cites a report from the U.S. Department of Transportation, which stated that a rule on entry-level driver training standards - which was originally set for release last February - will be established on November 25. Officials said that they realized that this change could have a greater impact on the industry than they originally expected, which prompted them to do more research on the matter and prolong the mandate's publication.

This regulation is likely to require all entry-level drivers to complete on-the-job and classroom-based training before they can start working, the media outlet reports. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, small transportation companies usually only put new employees through field-based training before sending them on the road.

Online truck driver training courses may enable jobseekers to finish their mandatory education and start earning money quickly.
