New products make checking tire pressure easier

A product promoting trucking safety was recently released by Vehiclelight.com, which came out with a new LED Tire Alert product that provides a tire pressure monitoring system, alerting drivers when their tire pressure is low.

The tire pressure monitoring system works by installing the LED Tire Alerts valve caps on tires. The caps begin to blink when air pressure in a given tire drops below eight pounds per square inch.

Properly inflated tires were called for by the recent Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Comprehensive Safety Analysis mandates for trucking fleets, and they also allow fleets to get better fuel efficiency, as well as reduce tread ware.

Another tool trucking companies can use to measure their tire pressure is the new Rand McNally Connect software platform, which uses the Rand McNally Fleetwatcher web portal to integrate with fleet management systems.

"Rand McNally's goal is to make the implementation of our systems, including installation into the truck and integration with third party software, as turn-key as possible," said Dave Muscatel, CEO of Rand McNally. "Rand McNally Connect significantly decreases the development cycle for integration, making implementation of our mobile communication systems much easier and faster for our customers."
