Created: Monday, January 30th, 2012 01:01 pm

According to the Morton Times News, a newspaper serving Morton, Illinois, the Midwest Truckers Association's 50th annual Mid-West Convention and Truck Show will take place at the Peoria Civic Center and Four Points by Sheraton on February 3-4.

The newspaper said the event is held to help truckers learn about new regulations in the industry, as well as help them deal with some of the increased costs due to the economy.

"We want to inform and educate truck owners in the latest regulations, new equipment and services," Don Schaefer, executive vice president of Mid-West Truckers Association, told the paper.

Anne Ferro, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will start off the event discussing some of the new regulations created to promote trucker health, including federal hours-of-service regulations and the restrictions on cellphones, reported the paper.

At the event, truckers will also have the opportunity to learn about a multitude of topics during information sessions, including drug and alcohol testing programs, physical requirements for drivers, financing in the industry and trucking safety.
