According to Salisbury, Maryland, CBS affiliate WBOC, the Maryland Department of Transportation plans to make safety adjustments to State Route 404 in Caroline County by widening its lanes.

By widening the lanes of the the highway, it is expected accidents will decrease, improving truck driving safety, reported the news source.

"I think it's a good thing to make the road safer no matter where they are," Lorri Patton, a Maryland resident, told the news source. "The dual lanes are going to help that perhaps but it's also going to speed up traffic."

The plan for Route 404 is to increase the number of lanes on the highway from two to four. The construction on the road could cost up to $15 million per mile, said the news source.

According to the Cumberland Times-News, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley recently released his budget for fiscal year 2013, leading municipalities around the state to call for more funds for road repair and construction.
