According to Roanoke, Virginia, NBC affiliate WSLS, Conway Freight has begun a training program that is designed to get truckers the training they need, as well as get them back in the workforce.

"We provide a service of transporting the goods from point A to point B," Eddie Jones, with Conway Freight, told the news source. "If we don't have enough drivers it's hard to do that."

Getting drivers the proper CDL training has been a concern of Conway for many years, but now is especially important while many people may be looking to find a job in the trucking industry.

The news source reported there are schools in more than 80 cities across the country teaching driving, safety and rules of the road, and Conway is able to provide people in the Richmond area with the necessary CDL training. Online CDL certifications are another great option for those looking to enter the trucking industry or advance a career.

More good news in the trucking industry comes from the Ceridian-UCLA Pulse of Commerce Index, which rose 0.2 percent in December.

The figures show an increased amount of fuel sales, indicating more truckers being on the road.
