Alternative fuel usage increasing at trucking company

Created: Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 05:01 pm

Fleet management businesses throughout the nation are increasingly aware of the importance of utilizing renewable energy for their trucks. Recently, Enterprise Transportation in New York has expanded their services to offer freight hauling options and biodiesel fuel.

Biodiesel is a special fuel made by plant or animal material, such as vegetable oil or tallow. The U.S. government has been encouraging companies to use a mix of regular diesel and bio diesel due to its environmentally friendly characteristics.

The company has been a mainstay of New York City and Winchester County for more than 15 years. Their various vehicles, including tractors, trailers and straight trucks can carry biodiesel supplies to businesses for their fueling needs.

The National Biodiesel Board endorses the changes companies are making towards achieving energy efficiency, reports the organization's website. Since 1992, the program has funded research on the benefits of biodiesel, to further develop its usage in departments such as the trucking industry. They hope that the renewable source will play a prominent role in nationwide transportation.
