Created: Friday, May 27th, 2011 04:01 pm

Tom Martin, who drives for ABF, recently proved that having a high safety record could lead to recognition, as he was given the Driver of the Year Award by the Wyoming Trucking Association (WTA).

The organization, which was created in 1939, works to promote safety in the trucking industry, as such an important issue when traveling on the open road. Officials from the organization noted Martin's high safety record as the main reason for receiving the esteemed award.

Additionally, Martin's peers at ABF noted that he has been an asset to the trucking industry because he takes safety so seriously.

"Tom richly deserves to be awarded this honor for his professionalism while behind the wheel and his outstanding safety record," said Sam Cates, ABF's safety and security coordinator. "Everyone at ABF greatly appreciates Tom's hard work and dedication and we're proud of the way he represents ABF and the trucking industry."

Safety is such an important component to the trucking industry, so it may be a good idea for individuals to enroll in online truck driver safety training.
