Government officials seek to fund massive roadway reauthorization bill

Created: Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 02:01 pm

Both Democrats and Republicans recently came together on a proposed bill that will benefit truckers and all motorists who use the nation's highways. According to Trucking Info, President Barack Obama was asked to support a new bill that will repair and reorganize the roadways throughout the country. The ideas behind the legislation is to create new jobs, make roadways safer and spend tax money accordingly on what is most needed by the general public.

"A lot of conservatives and Republicans will ask, 'Haven't we spent a lot of money on infrastructure?,' and the fact of the matter is no, we haven't, despite the president's rhetoric," Republican Representative Aaron Scholck of Illinois said in an interview with MSNBC.

Those in support of the additional infrastructure funding need to gather a couple hundred signatures in order for Obama to look over the proposed bill.

Truckers will have an easier time navigating the highways in the future if a bill like this is passed. Drivers who have recently completed their CDL training may want to follow news such as this, as it could affect their future careers and the taxes dollars they pay while on a trucking salary.
