Federal government to ease the fuel burden on trucking industry with provisional solution

Created: Monday, July 25th, 2011 04:01 pm

Recently, the trucking industry caught a break from the Obama administration through a new release of 60 million oil drums to help balance out the current demands for fuel in the freight hauling business.

Applauded by the American Trucking Association (ATA), this new move towards easing the stress of depleted oil resources will hopefully reduce the costs of fuel temporarily, which in turn will allow fleet management owners to reduce their overall operational expenses.

Half of the stockpile will come from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve and the total is regulated by International Energy Agency.

Bill Graves, president of ATA, says he is thankful for the government's action toward improving the oil situation.

"The trucking industry alone consumes roughly 97.7 million gallons of diesel fuel each day," he said. "The 30 million barrels the Obama administration will release into the market in enough crude oil to supply our nation for a couple days."

Graves added that although this additional fuel will help the industry, he hopes the government will continue to look into more long-term solutions for the uncertain oil supply in the future.
