Truck driving safety is usually the top priority among fleet management companies; however, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is shedding new light on eco-friendly conservation to keep the planet safe as well.
There are certain regulations when it comes to emissions by big rigs that trucking businesses have to adhere to, reports Trucking Info. Technology is rapidly changing and providing easier ways to track and monitor trucks.
The EPA has been pushing a new method of watching diesel fuel levels in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) engines. Sensors warn drivers when gas is running low, which can prevent unnecessary chemicals form going into the atmosphere.
While most trucking companies are meeting the 2010 emissions standards, the EPA says they would like to implement the new monitoring technology in all commercial vehicles on the road.
According to the EPA website, the organization has been environmental spokespeople nationwide for more than four decades. They strategically work with business to find ways to conserve the environment as well as budget the costs to do so efficiently.
