Drivers question proposed trucking safety regulations
Since CSA 2010 was implemented, many members of the transportation industry have been searching for ways to ensure that they are complying with these and other forthcoming regulations. Fortunately, there are many online truck driver training courses that can enable them to do so.
However, some of these professionals want to do more than follow these rules - they want to change them.
According to a press release from The Edwards Law Firm, several drivers are questioning the validity of proposed regulations that are intended to promote trucking safety. Some of these professionals believe that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) created these rules for political reasons, while others are saying that there is no need to change the existing stipulations.
The proposals in question include regulations that would change the maximum amount of time that drivers are allowed to work each day. Additionally, they would soften restrictions that apply to professionals who sleep in their trucks or travel as passengers with their colleagues.
Beginning December 29, the FMCSA opened a 60-day commenting period, which could inspire changes to the proposals. The law firm expects that the new regulations will go into effect soon after this time.
