Deadline approaching for fleet managers to register their trucks

As the fall turns into winter, fleet management owners know that their paperwork for their Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) is due for the previous year {for next year?}. According to the Public Utilities Commission, truck company owners must turn in their data during the third or fourth quarter of the same year, or the business will be penalized, just as if tax returns were handed in late.

The old system, known as the Single State Registration System, also required commercial companies to check in their equipment and the amount of time the big rigs spent crossing state lines.

The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) website says that trucking owners need to register their equipment and driver sin advance for the upcoming year as well. This can be done through the DOT website or on over the phone, which makes the process easier and more efficient.

Truckers who have recently completed their CDL training or fleet managers who ar ein charge of the company’s logistics should keep u to date on the frequent changes that are made in trucking legislature. This will ensure that there will be no errors when data needs to be reported to the transportation authorities.
