Texan nighttime speed limit signs to be taken down

In Texas, state officials are changing some of the rules of the road to better accommodate truckers who have to stick to strict delivery deadlines. According to Trucking Info, in the past there were signs indicating a lower speed limit for vehicles that were driving at night, but the state Department of Transportation has made plans to take them down.

"This week, contractors began removing 960 nighttime and 1,050 truck and truck nighttime speed signs in the Lubbock District’s 17 Country area," Dough Eichorst, district engineer of Lubbock, said in a statement. "This should be a relatively fast-moving operation and we anticipate that it will take approximately four weeks to remove all the signs in our district."

The House Bill 1353 ruling required all signs to be removed before the end of the year, reports the Caller, a news source based out of Corpus Christi, Texas. This may benefit night-shift truckers who use the highways in these Texas districts.

Truckers who have recently completed their CDL training may want to check out recent changes in the states they drive through when it comes to driving laws, for they may significantly change the way one navigates the roads while on the job.
