Young trucker holds true to family legacy

Truck drivers are welcoming a new generation of trucking fans and colleagues, as more young people are taking their licensing tests nationwide. Recently, Edd Stobart, son of William Stobart, who is COO of the Stobart Group trucking company, began training to follow in his family members' footsteps to embrace life on the road, reports IFW.

A camera crew will track Edd Stobart's progress as he works to complete his Class 1 certification for operating articulated vehicles. For one week, the instruction will be recorded for a local news station for footage to be used in a new documentary, titled Eddie Stobart: Trucks and Trailers.

The youngest Stobart is only 20-years-old. He is continuing a tradition that began with his uncle, who had the same name, and established the successful trucking business.
Tom Park is the trucking teacher who has been helping Edd reach his licensing goals this summer.

According to Truckers Report, drivers who stay within state borders can be as young as 18-years-old. Typically, truckers start around the ages of 23-to-25 years old, due to insurance companies preferring more seasoned drivers.
