Woman's eight decade long dream to truck cross-country officially started

Created: Tuesday, June 7th, 2011 04:01 pm

An older woman's bucket list may include seeing far away family or going on a senior's cruise, but one 82-year old Florida resident wanted more than anything to take a road trip in an 18-wheeler. Margarette Kirsch recently got her request granted by the Twilight Wish Foundation based out of Pennsylvania, reports PhillyBurbs.

Over the course of 15 days, Kirsch will hop in the passenger side of a massive Penske truck driven by retired trucker and minister, Annabella Wood. The duo will cross 17 state borders and travel over 6,000 miles from Pennsylvania, to California, and back to Kirsch's home on Merritt Island, Florida.

It has taken a few years to get the idea in motion, but after fundraising and a lot of phone calls, Kirsch will embark on her unique journey. Along the way, she plans on delivering a stair lift and a wheelchair to a few grateful seniors involved in the charity as well.

Kirsch never received her commercial trucking license, but she said this trip is the next best thing.

"I like trucks. I like watchin’ ‘em. I think they’re beautiful," she told the news source.
