Vehicle show in Japan debuts new hybrid trucks

During the annual Tokyo Motor Show, there were some new commercial trucking vehicles introduced that drivers may see on American roads in the future. According to Fleet Owner, this was the first time in four years that trucks were displayed for commercial purposes and the hybrid vehicles that were revealed show promise in potentially swaying the industry over to more alternative means of energy.

Companies like Mitsubishi and Hino Motors showed their new designs in hybrid technology for bigger trucks, which they hope to introduce and manufacture for the American market soon. These types of vehicles could save revenue for those in charge of fleet management, as well as eliminate heavy emission that can damage the environment.

"We have documented a 10 percent fuel efficiency improvement versus conventional trucks in highway driving," Albert Kirchmann, chief executive officer and president of Mitsubishi Fuso, said in a statement. "We definitely see the Super Great Eco Hybrid in our future product line."

Truckers who have recently completed their CDL training may be navigating more hybrid trucks in the future as technology continues to progress and make these options affordable to both big and small trucking businesses.
