Trucking show helps tornado victims
When a natural disaster strikes a small town, roads and freeways can be damaged to such an extent that the local trucking industry may be put on indefinite hold. Drivers from the “American Trucker” TV show were some of the first on-scene to lend a hand towards rebuilding Joplin, Missouri, after a tornado, and record the positive impact of volunteers on-site, reports the Joplin Globe.
Recently, the episode was broadcasted to bring back the difficult memories of what those involved had to endure, and highlight what truckers have accomplished to help out victims in town.
However, among the chaos, truckers were joining forces to be on the front lines of aid by delivering much-needed supplies to relief workers and families who lost their homes in the tornado. Truck drivers from all over the country braved the distressful conditions to help where they could in hauling necessary freight to the hazardous areas.
Robb Mariani, Host of American Trucker, said he was glad to be a part of the help. "…driving supplies in with them was a moving experience," Mariani told Speed.
