Trucking needs in California slowly improving

California’s vast expanse and borders with Mexico make for busy highways filled with truck drivers. Last August, trucking activity was shown to be higher in this state that in many other regions of the U.S., according to data released by the University of California, Los Angeles.

Some of the biggest increases were observed on the routes from Long beach to Los Angeles, in addition to the notable growth in cargo hauled from the San Diego International Airport, reports the North County Times. Experts say the ports on the state’s coast are providing this boost in opportunities for trucking, but the industry is still only growing marginally and has a long way to go for full recovery.

According to Fleet Owner, the trucking industry could see changes in how they are fueling their trucks as well, which could further streamline their cargo haul methodologies. The Los Angeles region may soon begin utilizing dimethyl for fueling big rigs, which decreases harmful emissions.

Truckers who may consider a career based in the state of California can utilize CDL training coursework, which can boost a driver’s credibility and prepare them for their future job on the road.
