Trucking jobs are on the rise

Created: Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 04:01 pm

Following the release of the promising employment statistics in February, truck driving jobs are reporting a significant increase recently, which may be good news for individuals who are thinking of completing online truck driver training courses in order to gain qualifications for the profession.

The Baltimore Business Journal reports that although trucking jobs were one of the highest affected professions of the recession, they are quickly rebounding. Perhaps due to weather thawing, more companies are choosing to ramp up trucker hiring.

The news provider reports that since the industry hit an all-time low in March 2010, businesses across the country have added more than 39,000 truck driving jobs.

Additionally, some companies such as USA Truck are offering signing bonuses to drivers such as $2,000 and a GPS or laptop.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has indicated that truck driving employment is expected to increase significantly over the next few years. Reports show that job opportunities will increase by 15 percent between 2008 and 2018, above the national average of all industries, which is growing by 11 percent.
