Truckers Matter launches online portal for recruiters
The website TruckersMatter.com recently introduced a service portal for trucking industry recruiters.
The portal, called Recruiting Matters, will allow motor carriers needing drivers to search for new hires through the website. This will expedite the recruiting process by allowing employers to easily see which candidates are best qualified for the job, having acquired the appropriate CDL training and other certifications necessary for truckers.
"These new services are unique and designed to allow carriers to expedite their hiring capabilities and improve their driver retention," said David Saunders, COO of Truckers Matter. "Many of our current carrier customers of our other service offerings are embracing this new thought process."
If truckers do not meet the criteria to be in the pool for potential employment on Recruiting Matters, Truckers Matter will work with the candidates to get them the certifications and training needed.
The Department of Defense is also experimenting with driver training programs, focusing on preparation for those who have to operate vehicles that weigh more than 14 tons, reported National Defense magazine.
By training its drivers, the military is able to see better efficiency in things such as fuel use, said the magazine.
