Although the trucking industry can be an exciting and fast-paced career choice, sometimes drivers can fall onto hardships that are out of their control, such as medical complications. Recently, the TravelCenters of America (TA) have award $30,000 to a special organization that takes care of truckers financially in times of need, reports Trucking Info.

The St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF) works to help truck drivers and their families recover from unplanned medical emergencies and the expenses that come with it.

Some of the costs covered include living expenses, prescription medications, hospital stays and lowering monthly bills after being released form care.

TA has donated funds in the past as well. In 2010, employees and customers of the company raised more than $200,000 for SCF.

According to TA's website, the business provides trucking rest stops throughout the country along major highways in almost every state. For 30 years, the company has ensured trucking safety and trucker health by maintaining clean and reputable facilities to those on the job and on the road.
