A new opportunity for prospective truckers to receive CDL training is coming at Baker College in Allen Park, Michigan, which is teaming up with a local transportation company, reported the Michigan Business Review.

The goal behind the new program to take place in Zeeland is to fill the trucking positions in high demand throughout the state, which is expected to draw attention from a number of areas within Michigan, said the news source.

"From what I understand, truck driving is in demand and there’s a shortage of them," Zeeland Mayor Kevin Klynstra told the news source. "If you look at the help wanted ads, that’s probably the biggest section – truck driving ads."

The news source said those who enroll in the new CDL training program can earn the proper certifications to become a truck driver in 20 weeks.

Part of the training included at the new driver school will inform students how to deal with issues in the result of a crash, reported the Injury Board Blog Network.

The blog said the regulations that drivers face when a crash occurs are there to provide the best safety precautions for everyone.
