Truck driver mixes art and business on the road
Truckers have gotten very creative in the past when it comes to finding ways to pass the time while driving their big rigs on the nation’s highways. One unique trucker has found an interesting way to express himself while on the job, reports the Chicago Tribune.
David Ford took a truck from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Chicago, Illinois in a journey more than 1,300 miles long. In the truck bed, Ford hung dozens of pencils from strings over large sheets of paper. The results were some remarkable drawings that bloomed on a paper canvas that is seven feet tall and 11 feet wide. He used more than 100 pencils that recorded every bump and curve in the road along the trip.
According to the Southside Hub of Production organization’s website, this exhibit is currently on display in Chicago, Illinois, and the finished product is on display for free to the public. This may be a fun way for new truckers who have completed their CDL training to have a chuckle over the nature of their careers that often can lead to very bumpy rides.
