Truck companies need drivers more than ever
The current state of the trucking industry leaves companies reaching out to find potential drivers for jobs, due to the increase in freight demand, reports The Texas Tribune.
Texas in particular has experienced an influx in the demand of transported goods due to its shared borders with Mexico and oil that needs to be hauled from refineries on the Gulf Coast.
John Esparza of the Texas Motor Transportation Association says new drivers have more prospects than ever before.
"If you're a young man or women in this day and age and you're a qualified driver, your salary is getting ready to increase because you're going to be a free agent," he told the news source. "You are a hot commodity."
According to the Lebanon Daily News, some fleet management owners in Pennsylvania are advertising jobs for truckers in newspapers and other media outlets to quickly fill positions in demand.
While considering which freight hauling company to work for, drivers may want to keep in mind different businesses have varying statistics on trucking safety and trucker health. Since work opportunities seem to be plentiful, truckers can choose be between several opportunities and determine which company may provide the best conditions.
