Transportation jobs increase, overall unemployment remains stagnant

Many truckers know that despite the uncertain economic times, there are still opportunities for employment within the trucking industry for those who have completed their CDL training and certification coursework. According to Transport Topics, even though unemployment rates in the U.S. remain slightly above 9 percent, roughly 2,600 trucking jobs were created throughout the country in the month of September.

This increase counterbalances jobs lost last month in trucking, which amounted to nearly 2,000 occupations lost by those who work in transportation and warehousing. Overall, service jobs in total are at an all-time high since August of 2010.

Evidence of new trucking jobs is prevalent in various parts of the U.S. For example, Universal Trade Solutions in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, has a five-year plan for expansion in the area that will create 100 new jobs for those involved in trucking logistics and driving big rigs.

As new trucking opportunities are being introduced nationwide, those interested in this field of work should consider taking compliance training for truck drivers coursework and getting on board with this booming industry.
