Television show films truckers working alongside NASA space shuttle's final flight
The conclusion of the NASA space shuttle program is not only affecting the livelihood of astronauts, but also many truckers who have assisted in the material transport of launch essentials, reports Truckers News.
For more than 40 years, vintage Peterbuilt trucks have played a large role in the NASA shuttle launches by completing various tasks that aid the mission, including fuel, oxygen and water transport. For the series finale of the popular show American Truckers, these vehicles will be shown in action while assisting the space shuttle Discovery's last assignment.
Bud Brutsman, the executive producer of the American Truckers program, says he is impressed by the efforts of these truckers who work hard to ensure the safety of every NASA launch.
"It’s the people that drive, build and operate these massive vehicles on a daily basis that make the difference," he told the news source. "These guys are very proud."
According to the NASA website, space shuttle Discovery has traveled more than 148 million miles over the course of 365 days in space. The first mission took place in August of 1984.
