Tech company wins acknowledgment for new trucking safety program
Recently, a technology company was honored with a special recognition for its efforts in improving the trucking industry. ALK Technologies Inc. received the Project of the Year in Freight Management Award this year during the annual Intelligent Transportation Society of New York meeting.
ALK has worked diligently to develop more efficient ways to organize the thousands of freight delivery transactions that go on in certain regions of New York state every day. A project called the Integrative Freight Demand Management in the New York City Metropolitan Area was where the company utilized its expertise in technology and management and was recognized by the award.
The initiative paid close attention to how off-peak drivers use the roads at night, which is slated to improve truck driving safety and truckers' health while they navigate the city's highways in the evenings. The system uses GPS to observe traffic patterns so fleet management owners can map out the best routes for their drivers to take, which may be the best way to monitor the trucker's use of time while hauling freight.
