A truck driving school in Arkansas is helping out local residents in Little Rock this holiday season by delivering food and other necessities to those who require a little assistance, reports the Associated Press.

Students who are taking their CDL training and learning the ins and out of the industry have paired with the Arkansas Food Bank to transport freight for free between the organization’s two locations. The 180-mile drive is done by students and some of their instructors three times a month.

"It's part of the reality of the trucking industry because I got to drive over and back the truck into the dock and load the trailer," Hosea Harper, student at the trucking school, said in a statement. "It was a good experience."

Professionals who are taking their compliance training for truck drivers coursework may consider getting involved in a charity program to give back to the local community. These initiatives assist those in need, especially during uncertain economic times, and also give new truckers the chance to practice their skills behind the wheel of a big rig.
