Created: Friday, November 4th, 2011 03:01 pm

The Rhode Island Trucking Association (RITA) announced that it has reached a milestone in its history. This November, the 80th anniversary of the organization will be honored at an annual dinner attended by officials and others involved in the trucking industry, reports the Providence Business News.

A highlight of the celebration will be an appearance by Bill Graves, president and chief executive officer of the American Trucking Associations (ATA). He will commend the efforts Rhode Island has made in maintaining trucking safety and security for all motorists on the road.

"...[RITA] will continue to meet the challenges that face the industry today as in was the case in 1931 when RITA was founded," Christopher Maxwell, RITA's president, as quoted by Trucking Info.

Truckers who have recently completed their compliance training for truck drivers coursework may want to consider looking for employment in a state with a well-established trucking industry association. This may help assist new drivers in having built-in support and an avenue to gather information as they begin to navigate the nation's highways.
