Individuals who enroll in recurrent hazmat training or online CDL training may increase their odds of landing a great job within the trucking industry. Companies often look for professionals who take these extra courses because they demonstrate that these drivers are promote trucking safety.

However, in some parts of the country companies are having a difficult time finding individuals who possess this training, news station KFDA reports.

"We have been hiring for about three weeks and so far we have had one or two applications, but they do not have all the required endorsements," Brandon McCartney of Central Freight Lines "We require HAZMAT, tankers, doubles, and triples, and a lot of people don't get that around here."

The company is hopeful that since the economy is picking up and that the amount of available freight hauling positions, that more professionals will come into the industry.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities in transportation and material moving occupations are expected to increase by nearly 13 percent over the next seven years, which equates to more than 1,400 available jobs.
