The U.S. Department of Transportation recently created a new proposal for a test program for a cross-border trucking provision of the North American Free Trade Agreement, The San Antonio Express-News.

Officials told the news source that long-haul trucking has been a staple between Canada and the U.S. However, an agreement was recently made between Mexico and the U.S. that would institute a test program that has quelled environmental and safety concerns.

However, some individuals are unhappy with the agreement. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers as resulted in a loss of $2.6 billion in U.S. Exports and nearly 25,000 American jobs. The Agricultural products in Texas have been hit hard by the agreement.

To help operators expand their career options, online truck driver training courses can assist them in obtaining the necessary credentials to remain attractive to future employers.

Compliance reviews are a new part of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's program called Compliance, Safety, Accountable (CSA). Nearly 9,311 such reviews were conducted by the agency in 2010. Meanwhile, 6,117 state inspections occurred during the same time period.
