A large trucking company that has ties to the industry nationwide recently made a donation to a Florida community organization to show their local support. Ryder System, Inc. presented a check for $45,000 to the Neva King Cooper Educational Center in Homestead, which will be used towards integrating some new technology into many of their classrooms for disabled students.

With the donation from Ryder, this establishment can offer SMART Boards to their students who have an array of mental and physical needs. This equipment can project computer screens onto interactive whiteboards and help students learn through modern technology.

"For 13 years, Ryder employees have volunteered their time and provided resources to support the academic success of all our students," Dr. Alberto T. Fernandez, principal of the educational center, said in a statement.

Ryder System is one of the biggest logistics companies in the world, providing jobs for truckers throughout the country who have completed their compliance training for truck drivers certification. They are involved in several charitable groups, including the American Red Cross Disaster relief program and several educational aid organizations.
