Prospective truck drivers get valuable training

A CDL training provider recently teamed up with Washington-Holmes Technical Center in Chipley, Florida, to offer free commercial driver training courses to those seeking work in Leon, Gadsden or Wakulla counties, reported Business Matters.

Kimberly Moore, CEO of the CDL training provider, told the source that often the only thing separating jobseekers from employment is the necessary training they need to enjoy a new profession.

"Truck drivers can earn upwards of $25 per hour, with bonuses for those drivers who save their companies money," Martha Compton, interim director of Washington-Holmes Technical Center, told the source. "Opportunities are not just available in long-haul driving, either. "

According to Glen Ellyn News, another truck driver training school has recently popped up in the Chicagoland area, which is focusing on the little things to make students better drivers.

The news source said part of the training includes backing a 50,000-pound truck around a corner. The students affectionately call a large orange cone they must avoid while backing up "grandma."

While programs like these offer valuable experiences for future truckers, online CDL training is another convenient option for those looking to obtain the credentials necessary for landing a job.
