Paper Transport to try alternative, natural fuel

With gas prices going up, many in the trucking industry are concerned by what this could do to overall supply cost. As a result, some fleet managers are looking for alternative options as a way to combat the gas crisis.

Paper Transport Incorporated announced it that its fleets will be testing a dual-fuel compressed natural gas and diesel system, according to Trucking Info. The company will be using the system from GreenMan Technologies' American Power Group subsidiary, whose executives noted the change in the transportation industry.

"Paper Transport is a regional pioneer in the promotion of natural gas as a transportation fuel and currently operates seven dedicated natural gas trucks," Lyle Jensen, GreenMan’s president and CEO, told Fleet Owner. "Paper Transport represents an ideal opportunity for us because they are already operating natural gas vehicles and are looking for a cost effective retrofit solution for a large portion of their remaining diesel vehicles."

Individuals who wish to learn more about alternative fuel options in the sector may want to enroll in fleet management as a means of seeing the choices.
