When truckers are beginning their career on the road after completing their CDL training, they may want to strive towards being the best of the best in their field, as these efforts are often recognized. For example, the finalists have been chosen for the 2012 Driver of the Year awards, sponsored by The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and Randall-Reilly Business Media and Information Company.

This honor will note the extraordinary efforts made by several individuals who have jobs in the trucking industry and have gone above and beyond the call of duty, reports Truckers News.

“It is our privilege to be able to interview and showcase each contest finalist to share what makes them successful with the rest of the industry," Jeff Mason, vice president of group publishing at Randall-Reilly, said in a statement.

Among the nominees are Danny Smith of Big G Express, Albert Carter of Melton Truck Lines and Freddie Bell, who works for Epes Transport System.

According to the TCA's website, this organization strives to support the endeavors of truckers across the country, and has represented drivers and their achievements for more than seven decades.
